General Mills India Celebrates Pride Month – Power of We

Pride Month, celebrated globally in June, is a time for communities worldwide to come together and recognize the achievements, struggles, and resilience of the LGBTQ+ community.

General Mills India has been actively celebrating Pride Month by engaging in local initiatives, like partnering with the Kashish Mumbai International Queer Film Festival, one of the largest LGBTQ+ film festivals in South Asia. As a venture partner, the company showcased its commitment to promoting diverse voices and perspectives through cinema.

A few highlights from the event include:

  • Monika Potharkar, Director, FSS & GIC Site Lead, took center stage as one of the speakers during the festival's inauguration ceremony. She shared her insights and experiences and highlighted the company's commitment to empowering individuals from all walks of life & amplifying their voices.
  • Minal Vaidya, Head HRBP FSS, GSS & ITQ and D&I Lead, participated in an engaging panel discussion on ‘D&I Roadmap – Experience Sharing’.
  • Several employees volunteered to manage the event, allowing them to engage directly with the LGBTQ+ community, fostering empathy, understanding, and camaraderie.

In addition to the film festival, there are several other avenues for employees to learn more about the LGBTQ+ community. The D&I Council in India launched an awareness campaign on inclusive language to help create a safe environment where everyone feels belonged.

For General Mills India, these initiatives are paving the way for a future where acceptance and diversity are celebrated, not just during Pride Month but every day of the year.
